Papertrey Princess Challenge: Score it!

"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal." Those in the U.S. know this as the opening to President Lincoln's famous Gettysburg Address in which he references the Declaration of Independence having only been written 87 years prior (a score is considered 20 so 4 score is 80 plus 7). But we are not talking about that kind of score tonight!!!

I've been given the opportunity to present the Papertrey Princesses with a new challenge. In the paper craft world, scoring paper is every where, PTI partner Nichole has done it numerous times here and here (there is a whole slew of scoring on Nichole's blog...just type in scoring on her search engine and you will see a ton of ideas!), Gina K. has a new one on her site here and of course the makers of Scor-Pal have a plethora of scoring ideas you can find on their web site here.

I only bought a Scor-Pal about a year ago, thinking I would only use it to make my folds in my cards more precise. I didn't imagine it would open up a whole other opportunity for making unique, easy cards....but it has!!!

Now if you are saying to yourself that you don't own a scoring tool, that's okay....like Jerry Seinfeld says, "It's not that there is anything wrong with that." because there is a work-around.....just use a ruler and a bone folder or something that will indent your paper, usually I would use a pen that didn't have any ink in it any more.

Okay....enough about my ramblings....on with the card.....

I had to make a wedding shower card for the people at work to sign. It had to be non-glitter (BOO!) and something that would hold up to a LOT of people touching it. This is it....





The base is PTI Summer Sunrise, patterned paper by Cosmo Cricket (not sure what the name is, it was given to me by a friend), and some PTI Orange Zest. Her favorite color is orange, so I had to be sure to incorporate that too! A couple of Robins Nest Dew Drops for accents....and the scoring...





There is no inside view....I left it all blank so everyone could include their own little messages like they always do, so the more room available the better!

So, to my Papertrey Princesses, your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to create some kind of background/focal image using scoring in any way, shape or form. This message will self-destruct in five seconds.....(name that TV show if you are that young or movie series if you are that old!;) Most of all, just have fun and if you don't own the tool, use your imagination...that's what creating is all about!!!

Nothing but PTI Kraft and Pure Poppy card stock, a bit of bling, a couple of punched corners, a heart cut from my Cricut and some twine....easy!!

Okay - I made it back for two more cards but then I'm done.....I've been up 22.5 hours and I've lost my mojo. I'll just let the pictures do the talking!

Day 2: Papertrey Ink 3rd Birthday Celebration!!!

Well, all of you know my heart belongs to PTI, so it's no surprise I'm playing along with the challenge today over on Nichole's blog. I'm hoping to use all nine images, but I have been up since midnight last night unable to sleep and I'm hoping to get some normal sleep tonight!! I see several people have already linked up for all nine images....I wish I had the time!!

I fell in love with Becky's image....so simple, sweet, unusual all at once. I originally printed it on some watercolor paper with the intention of water coloring it, but my printer ink refused to dry, so I just colored it in with colored pencils on Stamper's Select white card stock, popped it up on Spring Rain and called it a day! Did you notice the shadowing on the house??;)



I colored the balloon red because I wanted that to be the focal point and then added Ranger Glossy Accents to it to make it stand out a bit more.



For the inside I stamped the sentiment from last year's anniversary set with Pure Poppy ink in the center, cut out another balloon, glued it down and had it 'tie' around the letter Y by using a black ballpoint pen. I used some more Glossy Accents on that balloon too.

Three With One!!

Today I have one card that is being used for three different things!!! First up is the Papertrey Ink. blog hop which challenges us to decorate the inside of our cards - that's an easy one, because I do it all the time!



This card is also being used for the Papertrey Princesses Blogging Group which you can see all the names over on the right. Anya challenged us to use the picture below for inspiration.



And finally I'm using this for CPS 151!



I don't think I have ever done so many things with one card! Hope you like it!! I used PTI's Tiny Treats:Valentine as the focal image stamping the little airplane four different times using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloring it in with my SU! markers. The octagons were cut out with my Cricut and George and Basic Shapes cartidge onto PTI Vintage Cream and layered with pop dots onto Spring Rain paper. The green is PTI New Leaf and the base is Kraft card stock. The ribbon is PTI Spring Rain twill. The idea is that the airplane is supposed to look like it's moving.



For the inside, I stamped the little airplane full on this time and layered it again just like the outside. The little banner is attached using two threads of DMC floss number 801. The banner is Spring Rain paper again and it's stamped using SU! Green Galore ink. The sentiment is from PTI Everyday Button Bits.



And finally a close up of the little airplane. Did you notice the propeller on all of the airplanes has a bit of sparkle? That because I colored it in with my Gelly Roll by Sakura pen.
