Busy!

And that's putting it mildly! So here are just a few shots of one of many things I've been up to lately.....

Eleven Pack-A-Picnic baskets with lids (large size) for eleven fabulous ladies! I made these for 'my' church ladies that I was going to go on retreat with but ended up having to cancel for many unforeseen reasons, which kind of ticked me off because I was anticipating it so much. But you can never tell what life is going to throw at you, but it's all in the way you handle the situation. I was planning on making these while at retreat, but since I couldn't go, I decided, what the heck, why not still make them? So I did and I love them! They are basically monochromatic and simple - no big embellishments or anything, but they all loved them!

On top of the lids, they all have a flower from Stampin' Up! Natural Beauty set which I got when I went to regional convention back from my demo days - it retired in 2007 unfortunately but the flower fit my Nesties well, so that's what I used! I took my watercolor brush pen and used the matching PTI reinker in coordinating color and colored it in. Just a note when using PTI reinkers and the pen, the colors kind of separate so watch what you are using....I really can't explain it but if you try it, you will see what I mean. It will work, but it's weird. And your color will be a somewhat matte color. You can see what I mean about that in this picture....

I used PTI Background Basics: Text Style and stamped the flower right over the top and colored them in. On the black box, I used red for the flowers and Itty Bitty Dots patterned paper for the butterflies and the chocolate box I used these pinks. Sweet!

After the flowers were dried I took my glitter pen and on the one opened flower put a bit of sparkle on it and then glued a rhinestone into the center!

For the handles on these marvelous boxes, I used Lauren's binder clip technique. But because I knew the candle that was going into the box was kind of heavy, I reinforced the Word Window punched paper by backing it with plastic. I took one of the boxes that PTI stamp sets come in and did a WW punch of plastic and glued the WW punched paper directly to it. SOLID!

That's it for today! Thanks for stopping by!

SCS Sketch # 240!!!

I've been a member of SCS for a while now, and this is the first time I've participated in a sketch challenge there. So here goes.....

Here is the actual sketch....

You can find out more about the sketch challenges here....

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=41

And here are a few more details about my specific card..

So I decided to play more with my Basic Grey Gamma Series stamps (they are all sold out right now, check back again later!)....specifically with the cherries stamps which seem to be making a huge impact right now. The full card is below....

Using PTI Pure Poppy as the base with Martha's punch for the border, I proceeded to do what I could do with all those layers!! Good golly I have 8 layers...NOT including the card base, which would be 9! This is NOT my usual style.....but then again...I don't HAVE a usual style!!! But this is beyond my norm so stay with me here....

I really like how the circle Nestabilities came through for me with my circle image....it fit the single cherry very nicely. And the PTI Bitty Dot Basics paper fit nicely in the center. I used the Glassy Accents on each cherry to finish them off. The green paper is SU! Garden Green and I hauled out my paper crimper and did a bit of faux stitching on the back piece.

And here is the inside of the card with a hint of the outside to reflect it....

CPS # 127!!

If you are ever in need of a layout design for your cards, just go to Card Positioning Systems!! I tell ya' - every time I visit they have such great layouts it always gets my mojo going again! And pair it up with a color challenge on any numerous blogs and shazzam.....instant card!!! So here is CPS's latest sketch..

I actually made two cards, because I've been playing around with the Basic Grey Gamma Series stamps. It appears they are all sold out there, but they are too cute! And I've been in need of some boy cards. However, I originally saw The Freaky Girl on Michelle's blog here and HAD to have the little girl she showcased. But then when all the stamps arrived, I fell in love with the robot. Okay - call me a dork, but all I can hear is, "Danger Will Robinson! Danger!" when I see these stamps!

So combining my need for boy cards, along with the robot from Lost in Space, and CPS Sketch 127, here are my two cards to play along with...........

And the little robot is colored and accented with silver from my Zig Painty Pen and glitter with my Gelly Roll pen, because every robot has to have some shimmer and shine!

And the inside too...

And the second card is a little more in line with the sketch....same idea and colors going on...

Do you see the wire wrapped around the cardstock? It actually slides up and down along the paper - kind of interactive.

And the inside.....

Paper-lovin' fun! Until next time!!

Papertrey Princesses Challenge!

It's my turn to come up with the Papertrey Princesses blogging group challenge this week, and it was a challenge! I had sooooo many ideas and I finally decided upon owls - the nocturnal creature that has become a trend in the stamping world. So ladies, break out those owls and use them!! (If you don't own any owls, any winged creature will do. If you don't own any winged creature, any animal will suffice!)

Oh and one other thing - it has to be mail-able. By that I mean it has to fit in a regular A2 size envelope and be able to be mailed through regular post. No hand cancel, no padded envelope - just pop it in an envelope and mail it.

With that being said, here is what I came up with.....

Most items on this card are by Papertrey Ink. If you want to know specifics, just leave a comment and I'll reply back.

This is actually a little card - only 4.25 x 4.25 square card. I've been playing around with different sized cards to use up a whole sheet of 8.5 x 11 card stock and making cards that aren't your normal A2 size. It's kind of fun to figure out how to use up your paper, especially your scraps.

The base is Enchanted Evening, followed by Kraft and Stampers Select. I used the Wise Owls and Out on a Limb for the main images. I used a bit of the leaf 'ribbon' on the front too - it seemed to fit with my stamped image.

I used a touch of glossy accents to the eyes - one of my favorite things to do. I used it once on a card I gave to my Aunt. She is a big fan of any card I give to her and she asked what and how I did that. My response was, "Ancient stamping secret!". She wasn't happy about that but it made me giggle!!

As a final touch, I finished out the inside of my card (as usual!).
